Due to many years of computer experience as a graphic arts professional, and the penchant for composition, his recent works have been digitally created using Apple-Logic Studio, Propellerhead-Reason, NI-Komplete, and IK Multimedia-Total Studio. In fact, his digital audio workstation has become his "consuming passion".
"I was really excited when I started writing with GarageBand, the tools were all there to get off and running with just my laptop and a 49-key USB keyboard. Dancey Lady, which is mostly Apple loops, was the first one I came up with as I was teaching myself the program, and it was incredibly Fun! Inverted was second, And Then Comes the Night was third, and I had just started on Remembrance when I realized GarageBand wasn't cutting it any more.
"The nuances and tiny details were getting increasingly tedious and time consuming to edit in GB, and I wanted to find a program that would give me some flexiblity to customize the interface and create my own keyboard shortcuts. Fortunately, the cost for Apple's Logic Pro had recently become affordable for me, because it's an amazing program and I just love it!! It has capabilities that are way beyond my grasp at this time, but the more I learn about it, the more I want to learn about it."
His recording gear consists of a Mac wired for surround sound, an M-Audio Keystation Pro 88 keyboard, a Keystation 49e, an M-Audio Firewire 410 recording interface, a pair of Mackie 8" studio monitors, a pair of KRK Rokit-5 studio monitors, and a pair of M-Audio BX5a studio monitors.
Michael is also a freelance graphic designer, and amateur photographer.
